Most of us know the main acne causes – hormonal reasons, genetics, skin neglect resulting in sebum trapped within the pores, stress, allergic reaction to particular substances, hyperactivity of the sebaceous glands, and others.
But in recent years, experts have pinpointed some substances and situations that are potential acne sources. Though the connection between these factors and acne still await medical verification, it is important to learn them for the sole reason that we have nothing to lose if we become wary about these possible acne causes.
- Milk. Some experts believe that milk processed in particular fashions – such as milk processed for sherbet, for cream and cottage cheese, for making breakfast drinks and milk that is partially skimmed – can cause acne. They are of the opinion that hormones in cow’s milk, such as IDF-1 or insulin-like growth factor 1, and other chemicals like iodine, survive human digestion because of the way they are processed. These substances stimulate human hormones which can result in an acne breakout.
- Deficiency in Vitamins A and E. This is not really a result of a medical test, rather, it is an inference from existing statistics that reveal how people who suffer from acne have lower levels of Vitamins A and E in their systems.
- Carbohydrates. Again, this is medically unproven and is merely a theory based on inference. Some cultures have more acne causes than others, and study shows that these cultures consume less gylcemic content. Cultures that are quite fond of – and sometimes even overly reliant on – food types rich in carbohydrates are more prone to acne cases.
Whether these acne causes will be medically-accepted reasons for pimple breakouts in the future remain uncertain, but it is wise to know of their existance.
